What to do before the painters arrive

The time has come, you have hired Dove Creek Painting to paint. You have chosen the perfect colours and the date that was booked is coming close, now you are wondering how to prepare. Here are a few things you can do before they are set to arrive.

  1. Confirm and commit to the date and time. If you have household members that will be coming home midday, let them know the painting is happening. Remind them to not touch walls and to be careful entering the house.

Then if life happens and something comes up and you are unable to be there, you can always arrange for a key pick up before the date or have someone to be in attendance if you are unable. All the planning should be done, so the crew will know what to do, you may not need to cancel or rebook, so do not panic.

  2. Tidy or clean the rooms to be painted. This just makes it easier for the crew to get around and to clean the rooms it is best to:

    • Move furniture at least 3 feet away from the walls. To make sure they have enough room to paint, get around, and room for ladders, 3 feet is preferred. If you are unable to move certain things or say a couch is away from the wall but not enough, it can be covered by cloth for protection.

    • Take down photos and mirrors.  Removing all items from walls will make it easier for them to get to the walls and ensure all your photos and mirrors are protected.

    • Remove breakables from the rooms. This is also to ensure all important items are protected. If you have important breakable items around, it is best to remove them.

  3.   Do NOT wash walls. I know most places you search will tell you to do this, but we ask you to not clean the walls. This may be for many reasons, but the crew will know what is best for the walls and do what needs to be done before they start. It is just easier sometimes to not clean and less work for you!
